Southampton Liberal Democrats have selected David Goodall to fight the Southampton Itchen seat and Steve Sollitt for the Southampton Test seat at the General Election, expected in May. David said, "I am extremely pleased to be the candidate for Southampton Itchen, it is an area I have known all my life. I started school at Glenfield Infants and my grandad worked at Vospers for many years."

Steve Sollitt, 34, who has worked at Southampton General Hospital for two and half years and lives in Maybush has been a candidate in the last two elections for the party.

Steve said, "I am looking forward to working with the Liberal Democrat councillors across our city to offer a real choice to the electorate in Southampton Test at the next election. We have the largest number of councillors in the Test constituency and are making real progress now that we are running the council too."

In the normal one member one vote system that is typical for all posts within the party. David Goodall achieved overwhelming support with over 75% of Southampton Itchen vote and Steve Sollitt also had tremendous result nearly gaining 70% of Southampton Test vote.
