In a further step to improve community safety the local MP Chris Huhne has presented West End's two recently appointed Police Community Support Officers with two new bicycles. He met with the officers Ed Pritt and Michelle Towle plus local PC Gavin Smith. These have been funded by the Eastleigh Community Safety Partnership and Partnership Manager, Peter Baldry, from Eastleigh Borough Council believes they will be of great benefit to the local community. He commented "The bicycles and safety equipment will mean a faster and more efficient deployment across the neighbourhood. In particular, it will help the Police Community Support Officers to cover more ground and still allow them to make personal contact with individuals and residents." Commenting on the new bikes local councillor David Goodall said:- "These bikes will be of great help to the support officers and will allow them to both get around whilst still maintaining close contact with village residents."
