About David

David was born in Southampton and first went to school at Glenfield Infants in Southampton. After a year at school the family moved to Winchester, when his father helped setup the new Police control room there. The next family move was two years later to Cowes on the Isle of Wight with his father's promotion to station Sergeant. There the family stayed and so David grew up on the Isle of Wight where his main interests were scouting, swimming, and playing hockey.

David is currently a Senior Project Leader at Roke Manor Research, Romsey, where the next generation of mobile phones and internet communication systems are being developed. He started is working life aged 16 with a apprenticeship at Plessey Radar, Cowes, and went on to gain his degree at Portsmouth Polytechnic, before rising through the ranks to his current position.

For 4 years David has served as a Parish Councillor in Wootton Bridge and since 2002 has been an Eastleigh Borough Councillor. David has been Chairman and member of the Environment and Transport Scrutiny Panel, as well as a member of the Social Policy and Performance Review Scrutiny panels. He is current vice-chair of Hedge End, West End and Botley Local Area Committee and takes a very active role in his council work.

In 1989 David married his wife Kerstin at Cowes Baptist Church, a year after they married they moved to Germany when Plessey was taken over by Siemens. David and Kerstin return to the UK and the Isle of Wight in 1996, where their twin sons were born that same year. In 1997 they moved to the Townhill Farm area of Southampton and the boys now go to Bitterne Park Secondary School in Southampton, meanwhile David is a School Governor at both Townhill Infants School and Bitterne Park Secondary School.

Since moving to back to Southampton, in 1997, David and his family have regularly attend Thornhill Baptist Church in Southampton.
