West End’s new Borough Councillors

After a good campaign in West End both Liberal Democrats candidates stormed to victory in May’s local elections, Bruce Tennent won in West End North and Joyce Sortwell won West End South. This pattern was repeated by across the Eastleigh Borough with Liberal Democrats winning in 12 of the 15 wards.
Overall Liberal Democrat group kept control of the Council with a large majority, with 33 Lib Dems, there are just 7 Conservatives and 3 Labour Councillors on the new Council.
Fellow Liberal Democrat and West End Borough councillor David Goodall said
“It’s great to have two new councillors to join me on the Borough Council from West End and I am sure both Bruce and Joyce will make good councillors”

Paying tribute to Carol Boulton and Peter Humphreys, who after many years of public service on the Borough Council stood down at this election to concentrate on County Council work and Parish Council work, he added :-
“Carol Boulton and Peter Humphreys have done a great job for West End on the Borough Council and I am sure they will continue to on both the County and Parish councils.”

Thanks must go to all those who helped in the campaign and most of all to those who voted for both Joyce and Bruce. It is truly humbling that after more than 10 years as the largest party on the Borough Council it is now that the Liberal Democrats have the largest number seats on the Council.
