Today Southampton Itchen’s PPC David Goodall visited Morgan Technical Ceramics – Electroceramics, Bursledon Road, Thornhill following an invite from the General Manager, Tony Beswick. Morgan Technical Ceramics is one of the key employers in the area and with its core design and manufacturing base just the sort of business the country needs to improve the UK’s economic future.
MTC ElectroCeramics one of the world’s leading advanced materials companies, specialising in the design, manufacture and marketing of ceramic and carbon products. The Thornhill site manufactures Piezoelectric ceramics and designs and builds transducers, including all the die pressing, firing, grinding, metallising, assembly and testing processes to produce the finished products. These products are used in a wide range of applications from transport and telecommunications to fire protection and medical instruments.
During a tour of the site General Manager, Tony Beswick explained:-
Tony Beswick’s has been General Manager since 2001, prior to this he was Business Development Manager for a couple of years which followed 2 years as the Engineering Manager.
Commenting after the visit David Goodall said:-
“This is clearly just the type of solid high end design and manufacturing business that we need to encourage.”
“To succeed it needs not only to design good products but it also needs access to international markets, through organisations like the EU and low energy costs.”
“As fossil fuels run out and the price increases it is essential that our power generation base is switched to a low cost sustainable source, like renewable energy.”
