You may have read with interest the article in the County Press (CP, 16-01-15) and wondered why a Councillor from Eastleigh wishes to be the Liberal Democrats candidate in May? The answer is simple, the Island is the place where I grew up, from primary school age to tech college age; it’s the place I started my career, with 11 years at Plesseys in Cowes; it’s the place I met and married my wife of the past 25 years; it’s the place our boys were born; it’s the place where the rest of my family still live. In short, the Island is a place I care deeply about.
Politics is not about the fight for power between party groupings; it is not about gaining power for self-interest or claiming as much as possible on expenses; it is about one thing and one thing only – helping people to have better, happier and more fulfilling lives. That is why I wish to return to the Island to put all my experiences as an Engineer, a manager and a Councillor to the benefit of Islanders.
If you wish to hear more about what I stand for and ask me any questions then please come along to my campaign launch at 7:30pm Friday 6th February in the Riverside Centre , Newport.
